General questions about the trading platforms

How do I download SaxoTrader?

To download SaxoTrader, choose either the Live or Demo version:

·         Download SaxoTrader for Live Trading
·         Download SaxoTrader for Demo Trading

Once the software has been installed, please login using your ID and Password. When you login into a Live Account, you will be asked to generate a new security key. For security reasons the key must be activated by you via telephone. Please contact our Client Account Services on +41 (58) 317 9560 to activate your key.

Note: Your account is accessible at all times using our online SaxoWebTrader platform. Simply go to www2.saxowebtrader.com (using Internet Explorer) and login using your User ID and Password.

How do I use SaxoTrader from behind a firewall or proxy server?

If you are accessing SaxoTrader from your workplace, it is highly likely that this will be done through a firewall and/or a proxy server. Such devices are also used by some private users. To enable SaxoTrader to communicate securely with our server(s), through a firewall and/or a proxy server, you must open a special "port". To enable access, please ask your systems administrator to open "Port 1001" for access to the server "simulation.Saxobank.com" (ip address 193.178.175.38). This port is used for encrypted communication with the trading server.

This must be done before downloading the demo!

What problems can occur with the download?

Saxo Bank's "standard" installation ensures that only the files that are actually required are downloaded onto the target computer, thus the download can be considerably faster than the alternative installation, especially on slow lines. I don't see the alternative mentioned anywhere.

The "standard" installation may have problems however:

  • Proxy servers that require authentication.
  • Proxy servers with faulty file caching implementations.

What should I do if I receive an “Invalid login or password” error message?

If you receive the error message "Invalid login or password" you should take the following steps:

How do I add an e-mail address to my Safe Sender list?

If our emails are arriving in your Spam or Junk email folder, please follow the instructions below to allow emails sent by Saxo Bank to be delivered to your inbox.

Outlook:

  1. Click on the Junk Email folder
  2. Right click on the message from Saxo Bank
  3. In the menu, click Junk Email
  4. Click Add Sender’s Domain (@saxobank.ch) to Safe Senders List

Hotmail:

  1. Click the Contacts tab in the top menu
  2. Click Safe List
  3. In the Type an address or domain field, type @saxobank.ch
  4. Click Add

Yahoo:

  1. In the left pane, select your Spam folder
  2. Select the checkbox next to the Saxo Bank message you want to designate as not-spam
  3. From the Move menu, select Inbox
  4. This moves the designated e-mail back into your inbox and notifies Yahoo that the message was not spam

Gmail:

  1. Open the e-mail
  2. Click more options in the e-mail header
  3. Click add sender to contacts list

Chart Issues in SaxoTrader2

Silverlight 5 is required and can be downloaded from: http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/

When you open chart window, you see blank chart or a chart window with an hourglass.

 
In order to check the reason for the problem, you can click Tools > Instrument Explorer > find the instrument and highlight it, right click and click Instrument Information.

 
1. If you see only a red cross in the instrument information window, the issue is most probably due to Java. In order to solve the problem, please refer to topic under the same session Chart & News.
2. If you do not see red cross and you do not see a chart or streaming news loading under Instrument Information, it means that something is blocking the data. Resolution often is to add our chart and news url under trusted sites in Internet Explorer.

How to manage Captcha?

After several attempts the CAPTCHA is required to complete the login procedure for the WebTrader users.
